EntityLocker for DPIIT Recognised Startups
Use DPIIT's August 2026 EntityLocker advisory to assign ownership of business documents, prepare controlled sharing, and record how access should change over time.
Start an EntityLocker rollout by assigning owners to the company's key documents. DPIIT's 24 August 2026 advisory advises recognised startups to create an account and progressively use the service for business records and sharing. DPIIT advisory of 24 August 2026
Choose one workflow to improve first. For example, prepare the records your company repeatedly shares during partner onboarding. Keep a named owner for each document and sharing decision.
Make a founder document inventory
| Record named in the advisory | Suggested internal owner | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Incorporation certificate | Company administration | Which legal entity does this copy identify? |
| GST registration | Finance | Who tracks amendments and registration changes? |
| Organisation PAN | Finance | Which approved recipients need this document? |
| Udyam certificate | Operations | Does this company have an applicable registration? |
| DPIIT recognition certificate | Founder or company administration | Who maintains the record and checks requests? |
The owner assignments are examples. Document availability depends on the entity and source. Check the current EntityLocker resource page before planning any automated retrieval. EntityLocker resources
Plan how a representative acts
Name a primary account operator and a backup. Identify the person who can approve sharing on behalf of the company. Give each person an individual account where the applicable service supports it.
A representative can change while the company stays the same. Include a handover step for departures. Review outstanding sharing requests, account roles, and any integration credentials when a responsible person leaves. EntityLocker representative authority.
Rehearse one sharing request
Use a synthetic case in a team review. A potential partner asks for a certificate of incorporation and GST evidence. Finance confirms the legal entity and identifies the records. The designated approver checks the recipient and purpose before sharing.
Record the intended documents and who will follow up. If the recipient asks for an unrelated document, send the request back for review. Keep one reference to the sharing decision in your internal system.
Help an incubator use the advisory
An incubator can use the inventory during a founder workshop. Ask founders to name document owners and describe a sharing scenario with synthetic records. This gives each team a list of tasks to complete through the official service.
Use the advisory wording when describing who it addresses. API integration is a separate project with a distinct access process. API Setu application guide.
